It would be FANTASTIC if American sports coverage really understood the game of Futbol. ESPN only hops on us when we win "important" matches. Beyond that, it took us making it to a FINAL to finally make it to the cover of an American sports section. Yesterday was not a total letdown. Not in the least. We played great footy and we kept our heads up. We scored two goals on a team that doesn't let up easy. Sure, we let em come at us hard the second half. They went into their locker room at the half and realized we were playing better soccer than they were. Thus, they came out swinging. Am I bummed we lost? Yes. Am I devastated? On a level, I would like to think we no longer need to earn respect from the world and need to start winning more matches. I trust that will come though. I trust that this was our way of saying we are ready for what comes next. 2010 is gonna be great. I know we will come out and strike hard in South Africa. The New York Times is wrong in their headline. It wasn't a letdown. From where I sit, it was the start of something much bigger than US Soccer and it's fans have ever seen before. Watch out world, we are coming for you!
